The Walt Disney Company today announced the official opening dates for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World!
Galaxy’s Edge is set to open at Disneyland on Friday 31st May 2019 and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World on Thursday 29th August 2019.
Although before you rush off to book your trip just wait a moment and read on…
On both these opening dates there’ll be one thing missing from Galaxy’s Edge which guest may notice, ‘Rise of The Resistance’ the absolutely enormous, multi-level, never seen before, E Ticket attraction wont be opening with the rest of the land. So what’s happened has it been delayed? No one really knows as of yet but I imagine not. Maybe the rest of the land has been so ahead of schedule Disney saw an opportunity to ease what they know will be a mad rush on opening day with a phased opening by opening the rest of the land first and then opening the main attraction slightly later it may disperse the crowds slightly.
Also announced today is that on opening Smugglers Run, the Millennium Falcon attraction, will not be offering FastPass+, FastPass or MaxPass for a good while after opening so guest will have to go standby line only and at Disneyland in order to even get into Galaxy’s Edge guest will have to make a reservation (at no extra cost) which will limit the amount of people entering the land, so guest will have to be quick to make sure they secure a place. Ticketed entry to Galaxy’s Edge will be in place between 31st May and 23rd June.
I’ll be visiting Disneyland in August 2019 to attend the D23 Expo and I hope Galaxy’s Edge will be open in its full capacity by then.
